The newly diagnosed education folder has been reviewed and had a few updates, in line with the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) clinical practice consensus guidelines.
The new patient folder is a comprehensive resource to help families navigate a new type 1 diabetes diagnosis, now and into the future.
The folder has been designed to be your go-to resource, not just for newly diagnosed families but also those keen to brush up on their diabetes knowledge.
The resource features information on what diabetes is and includes helpful tips on managing diabetes including glucose monitoring, adminstering insulin and pump therapy. There are also chapters on exercise, food planning, sick day management, hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia.
The online version of the folder has been designed to be interactive so that you can click on links and be navigated to accompanying websites or PDFs, or jump directly to the relevant section you need by clicking on the chapter heading on the contents page rather than scrolling through the resource.
The folder can be accessed HERE.
A copy of the updated HbA1c chart can also be accessed HERE.
It is also available in hard copy in the Endocrinology and Diabetes clinic at Perth Children's Hospital.
