PCH Diabetes Service Update
We will continue to utilise Telehealth for most appointments and care for the next few weeks at least, but we remain ready to pivot back to face to face care as soon as possible.
In fact, we recognise that for many regional families where we visit every 3 months, we are coming up to a second virtual clinic in a row. We have sought permission with local hospitals or clinic sites to do some of those clinics face to face; families will be informed as soon as we have absolute clarity on whether we have approval to do so.
Where we need to continue to provide care via Telehealth, teams will be sending out pathology forms to families in advance as much as possible to get a HbA1c formally measured, as we don’t want to miss this key marker of glucose control twice in a row. If families prefer (and where possible), they can get a HbA1c done by point of care (fingerpick) at the Type 1 Family Centre or at Perth Diabetes Centre for a small/moderate cost and forward it to us.
