Capacity Building Grants now open

The Rio Tinto Children's Diabetes Centre; a Breakthrough T1D Centre of Excellence is excited to announce that the Capacity Building Grants are now open to all staff, students and collaborators across the Centre.

The Rio Tinto Children's Diabetes Centre; a Breakthrough T1D Centre of Excellence is excited to offer Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) researchers, Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students and all staff affiliated with the Centre, the opportunity to apply for sponsorship for training or capacity building related activities.

Capacity Building Grants are made possible through funding support by Rio Tinto, Telethon Trust and Breakthrough T1D, and are intended to support the applicant's career development and the Global CoE's objective to improve the lives of all young people living with T1D.

Capacity Building funding can be used toward activities including:

  • Advanced training courses
  • Technical courses and training
  • On the job training at other research organisations
  • Funding towards recruiting and funding a consumer for a research project ideation, research grant development or related research activity
  • Invitation to give a lecture or delivering an oral presentation at a conference

Eligible applicants can apply for up to $5,000 of funding for a single activity. The activity must be completed by 31st December 2026.
