Phone Requests for prescriptions

We can work together during normal appointments to make sure prescriptions are written, so please ask us if you need a prescription during clinic time.

While the  PMH diabetes and endocrinology service does it's best to provide an excellent service to all children and families  with diabetes and endocrine conditions, the requests for prescriptions to be posted out to families between clinic visits has been increasing to a point where staff are unable to keep up.

When a prescription request is made by phone it usually generates a lot of work, compared to if the prescription was written in clinic. So, the clinic teams are making a real effort to ask patients during their normal clinic if they need a prescription. We encourage patients to identify on the sheet you fill out when you come to clinic if you need a prescription.

In the future if / when you ask for a prescription over the phone you will be asked to see your GP. Of course, sometimes there would have been a major problem meaning you couldn't get a prescription at your normal clinic visit, and if this is the case we encourage you to clearly state why this has happened. Simply missing your clinic appointment will not be enough, and we will ask you to see your GP.
