Diabetes Australia have released an app to make living with or caring for someone with diabetes a little easier. The app is free and is available on Android and Apple phones.

The app has information for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

The app is divided into 6 categories.

  • News - contains articles, videos and audio files about all things diabetes related. It also has a section for research, with updates on what is happening in research as well as how to participate.
  • Recipes - you can search for recipes based on the type of meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc.) as well as meal requirements like gluten free, vegan, and lactose free to name a few. It also has a shopping list feature so you can add the ingredients you need for the great recipes.
  • Well-being - contains a health and well-being section where you can set reminders for your appointments, so as soon as you know when your next clinic appointment is you can add it to your calendar. It also includes a quiz, fast facts and healthier cooking and eating tips.
  • Events - you can search for events by location or map and see what's happening around Australia. When you find an event you want to attend, you can add it to your calendar, invite friends and set a reminder.
  • Buy - this section links straight to the Diabetes WA shop.
  • Services - if you are ever in a suburb you are not familiar with and need to find a chemist or medical practice, you will find it in this section of the app. You can search for dentists, GP's, gyms, Physiotherapist and Optometrists to name a few services.

The app can be downloaded from Google Play or iTunes.
