Are you a young person living with Type 1 Diabetes?

Or living in a regional area and a parent of a child with T1D?

After a successful launch of the DiabHQ mobile app, a 'one-stop-shop' for families' diabetes needs that was co-designed by people and families like yours.

We’re now in the exciting next phase - enhancing the patient portal to include even more support for families and looking at how we can offer a more personalised service that gets your what you need.  For this, we need your voices too.

We’re looking for young people (aged 16 – 21 years) and regionally located parents and carers to join our Consumer Reference Group (CRG) to guide this work. Your lived experience will be invaluable in ensuring these innovations truly work for people like yourself and your families.

What's involved:

  • CRG members will participate in 4-5 co-design workshops throughout 2026 to explore and prioritise ideas and suggestions. These two-hour workshops will be held online, generally after work and school hours, at a time that suits the majority of members.
  • Occasionally we may also call for CRG volunteers to review documents, provide feedback on options being considered (such as app functionality and design), or participate in events promoting the project.
  • All members will be reimbursed at $50/hr and workshops will generally be 2 hours.

More about the DiabHQ Project and next steps:

Phase 1 of the DiabHQ project focused on creating a data platform and co-designing a mobile app for T1D patients and families. The DiabHQ app officially launched and is now being rolled out across the PCH Diabetes Service, enabling users to view their health data, access support, and find resources.

Phase 2 (Next steps) of the DiabHQ project is currently underway and we’re forming a new Community Reference Group (CRG) to guide work planned for 2026 which includes:

Flexible appointment scheduling - We’re exploring how we might be able to move from fixed 3-monthly appointments to a more responsive, personalised model of care that allows patients to be seen according to their needs and preferences. The CRG will provide insights into what will and won’t work for patients and families.

Enhanced app functionality - We’ll continue developing the DiabHQ app and we’ll design and build a clinician portal to provide healthcare providers with an intelligent view of diabetes data so they can offer more personalised, targeted care. Integration of the DiabHQ app and the clinician portal will enable better communication and information sharing between healthcare providers and patients/families. The CRG will help us understand consumer priorities and design and test new features.
