Kids have a 'wild' time at diabetes camp

Kids living with type 1 diabetes got to hang out with peers and have a lot of fun at the Diabetes WA and Perth Children’s Hospital kids’ camp in Bicton recently.

Kids living with type 1 diabetes got to hang out with peers and have a lot of fun at the Diabetes WA and Perth Children's Hospital kids' camp in Bicton recently.

Thirty-six 9 and 10-year-olds enjoyed a host of activities and physical challenges including the flying fox, kite making as well as attending a zoo themed disco in an environment where having T1D is the norm rather than the exception.

Annie Farinosi, Acting Coordinator for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Perth Children’s Hospital, said the camp aimed to provide children with new skills and confidence in managing their diabetes in a variety of environments.

The zoo-themed camp was held at the Point Walter Recreation Camp. If you are interested in being a part of the next Diabetes WA kids camp, contact community@diabeteswa.com.au
