Kings Birthday Honour for Children's Diabetes Centre Co-director

Congratulations to the Rio Tinto Children's Diabetes Centre Co-Director and Perth Children's Hospital Director of Research, Professor Timothy Jones, awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the King's Birthday Honours List.

Congratulations to the Kids Research Institute's, Children's Diabetes Centre Co-director, Professor Tim Jones, who has been recognised in the Kings Birthday Honour's list as a member of the Order of Australia (AM), for his work in Medical Research.

Professor Jones, who is also a Paediatric Endocrinologist and Director of Research at Perth Children's Hospital, has devoted more than 30 years to diabetes research, working tirelessly to improve the lives of children living with diabetes and their families.

Professor Jones has also nurtured and supported a multidisciplinary team of diabetes researchers, forming a world-class clinical research centre here at the Kids Research Institute Australia.

He is internationally recognised for his major contributions to clinical research in paediatric diabetes, particularly in hypoglycaemia, complications, and new technologies.

Professor Jones said he was surprised and honoured to be recognised.

“It’s great to be recognised, but I see it as recognition of the importance of medical research to the community rather than just to an individual,” Professor Jones said.

Children's Diabetes Centre Co-Director Professor Liz Davis said Professor Jones was an exceptional leader and very deserving of the Kings Birthday honour.

"He has provided research leadership nationally and internationally, leading a range of clinical trials.  And has been inspirational in mentoring and training many early career researchers."
