National Committee Update

What the national committee have been working on

This year has seen the national committee expand to having representation across most states and territories in Australia, with members located in:

WA (5 members), NSW (3 members), QLD (1 member), VIC (1 member), ACT (1 member), and SA (1 member).

From committee and working group meetings to Research Buddies working with researchers on specific projects, our Consumer Representatives have created impact that is now starting to be seen in research outcomes.

Changing the committee’s title from “Community and Consumer Involvement Committee” to “T1D Community Advisory Group”, or T1DCAG for short, members made the decision to have a title that better reflects who the members are, who they represent and the role they play in the Centre’s programs of work.

Below is an outline of what the T1DCAG have been involved in this year:

a)    Researcher Presentations:

  • Project Funding/Programs of Work;
  • AcT1ve: Medical Device Digital App for T1D Paediatric Population;
  • T1D Resources Scoping Project;
  • SEED Fund Recipient Presentations:
    • Multi-omnics analysis to identify early markets of B-Cell loss.
    • Talking about type 1 diabetes; Understanding adolescents’ needs to have confident conversations.
    • Investigating the urinary proteome as a source of risk-associated biomarkers of early childhood islet autoimmunity.

b)    Committees, Subcommittees &/or Working Group cross-membership:

  • Management Steering group.
  • Scientific Program Subcommittee.
  • Health Economics Working Group.

c)     Research Buddies – project specific:
