Exercise intervention to improve mental health outcomes - Part two

Study: Developing an exercise intervention to improve mental health outcomes for adolescents with type 1 diabetes

Participants needed for an online focus group:

The researchers at the Rio Tinto Children’s Diabetes Centre are exploring the needs of young people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) to be physically active. We are looking for adolescents with T1D to help us design a program that will encourage engagement in physical activity, regardless of how engaged they currently are. The online focus group will run on Monday 24th June at 4.30pm

Why are we doing the study?

We know that physical activity is important for physical and mental health and well-being for young people living withT1D. After talking to young people with T1D we also know that it is challenging to manage blood glucose levels during physical activity. The current exercise guidelines available vary and are challenging to follow.

Who can participate?

We are looking for:

  • Young people aged 14-17 years
  • Who have had type 1 diabetes for more than 12 months
  • all levels of current physical activity engagement
