New Study: Water Survey UWA

There is evidence that physical activity is well known to increase the risk of hypoglycaemia in people with type 1 diabetes. However, little is known about the effect of water-based activities on blood glucose levels.

PARTICIPANTS NEEDED:

There is evidence that physical activity is well known to increase the risk of hypoglycaemia in people with type 1 diabetes.

However, little is known about the effect of water-based activities on blood glucose levels. It is also unclear how people with T1D manage their blood glucose level while at the beach or at a public and private pool.

It is why UWA PhD student, Kristina Abramoff who is working with the Children's Diabetes Centre, is inviting you to complete a 30-minute survey designed to inform us about both your experience and how you manage your blood glucose during water-based activities.

Who can participate?

To be eligible for the study, participants must:

  • Have had type 1 diabetes for more than a year or a parent/carer of someone with T1D for more than a year.
  • And been to the beach, public or private pool at least twice in the past 12 months.

What does participation involve?

If you are interested in participating in this study or want more information, contact Kristina Abramoff via Kristina.abramoff@research.uwa.edu.au or 0431 145 703, or click on the surveys below.
