PCH takes lead in Diabetes In Schools program

Perth Children’s Hospital will be one of the first hospitals in Australia to deliver critical diabetes training to teachers and school staff as part of a new national Diabetes in Schools program.

Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) will be one of the first hospitals in Australia to deliver critical diabetes training to teachers and school staff as part of a new national Diabetes in Schools program.

The $6 million program is set to ease the strain of type 1 diabetes on families by helping to ensure that principals, teachers and school staff have the support, training and tools they need to support students with type 1 diabetes at school.

Professor Liz Davis, head of PCH's Endocrinology and Diabetes Department and co-director of the Children's Diabetes Centre at The Kids Research Institute Australia, said the diabetes team were excited to deliver this great program to help support children living with type 1 diabetes in their school journey.
