Seeking old iPhone donations

Perth Children’s Hospital’s Endocrinology and Diabetes Department is seeking donations of old Apple iPhones — no older than model 6 — to pass on to families starting on continuous glucose monitoring.

Perth Children’s Hospital’s Endocrinology and Diabetes Department is seeking donations of old Apple iPhones — no older than model 6 — to pass on to families starting on continuous glucose monitoring.

Though CGM is subsidised, some families are unable to afford compatible phone devices to view their CGM information, meaning they cannot use this technology.

iPhones not only pair with CGM technology for remote monitoring of blood glucose levels but other apps can also be installed to help with food monitoring, exercising, reminders and timers.

The comfort and reassurance that these devices give parents and children is powerful in increasing health outcomes and confidence, reducing anxiety and improving sleep and family functioning.

For more information, please contact Senior Social Worker Andrew Norfolk on 6456 0413 or andrew.norfolk@health.wa.gov.au.

Donations can be dropped into the clinic on your next visit.
