T1D Mobile Health App
It is important for people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) to engage in a physically active lifestyle, but it can be challenging to control blood glucose levels around exercise. Current exercise guidelines are not written for young people living with T1D and are difficult to access.
Our Diabetes research team at The Kids Research Institute Australia have developed a mobile medical device health app in collaboration with young people living with T1D.
This mobile health app enables users to receive personalised insulin and carbohydrate advice in relation to the exercise they plan to participate in.
The advice is based on ISPAD (International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes) Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines. Before the mobile health app can be made available it needs to be TGA* certified.
So that the mobile medical device health app can be maintained, and updated as new features and guidelines are released, a charge would be required for use of the app.
