Would you like to test our new exercise app?

Our research team have been working with young people with type 1 diabetes to design and develop an app that contains guidelines and advice for what to do when you are being physically active.

Managing diabetes when being physically active can be very challenging. Our research team have been working with young people with type 1 diabetes to design and develop an app that contains guidelines and advice for what to do when you are being physically active.

Before we test the app in a large trial, we would like to see how easy it is to use the app and how all the functions work in real-life.

Who can participate?

We are looking for young people:

  • aged 12-25 years
  • who have had type 1 diabetes for more than 6 months
  • who exercise regularly, or are willing to start exercising
  • who own a mobile phone (Android 4.4+ and iOS 10+)

What does participation involve?

You will need to be available for two short visits at the research clinic at Perth Children's Hospital.  At the first visit, we will go through the study in more detail and ask you to download the app and at the second visit we will ask you to complete a short survey and interview to get your feedback.

To test how easy it is to use the app, we will ask you to work your way through all of the different sections of the app over a 6-week period at home.  We want to make sure the app does not break, so you will be encouraged to try as many different pathways through the menus as possible.
